Dayton Elementary hosts a grand event

The focus of Dayton Elementary School’s Grandparent/Special Persons Day is all about creating connections. More than 1,000 guests entered the doors March 1 to spend time with their students.

Students performed in a music program led by music teacher Julie Baumann. The students have been rehearsing the songs and choreography with Baumann for weeks leading up to the event.

Students and guests broke out into stations where they played bingo, made friendship bracelets, and spent quality time with their guests. Students were also excited to show off their classrooms and introduce their classmates and teachers.

"It was a great opportunity to continue to build the community feel of Dayton Elementary School,” says Principal Ryan Simmons. “This event allows our guests to see the learning environment of their student, along with the wonderful things that happen at our school."

"Dayton Elementary holds a strong focus on creating connections with our students and families,” says Student Support Specialist Alexis Maynar. “This fun-filled event is another example of our dedication to that effort."
